CHICAGO — Our recent story, More Myth vs. Reality, was inspired by tremendous interest in one of our Wire surveys. Surprisingly, no one commented about marketing in that story. If someone said, “Marketing is often ignored in this industry,” would you agree or disagree? One way to develop a marketing strategy is to survey your customers. Find out what they desire, throw in some creativity, and proceed from there. There are many things a coin laundry owner can do to call attention to his/her laundry and maybe boost profits. Here are just a few ideas.

Many investors come to me and tell me what they are looking for when it comes to purchasing an existing coin laundry. The facts are that nothing in life is perfect, so my advice in this article is just one word: “compromise.” If you buy an existing laundry, you need to be realistic and willing to look at the business you are considering as what it could potentially develop into, which, hopefully, is the perfect laundry in your own eyes.

WASHINGTON — After viewing last month’s EIA (Energy Information Administration) short-term energy outlook, one couldn’t be blamed for being apprehensive about future projections. The July forecast was just issued and the government’s energy statistical arm has slightly revised its natural gas price projections for 2008.
